David Templeman, Western Australia's Minister for Culture and the Arts, commented, "the new museum for Western Australia (Boola Bardip) is a major infrastructure and cultural project for the country and will become a landmark in Western Australia. A spectacular cantilevered top-floor gallery tells the story of Western Australia and beyond through advanced technology and innovative exhibitions."

On October 18, 2017, Tianqi Lithium and the Western Australian Museum signed a cooperation agreement, according to which the Connections gallery, overlooking the city, would carry Tianqi Lithium's name. Just as the name suggests, the gallery serves as a bridge between China and Australia for cross-cultural communication and exchanges.

One year later, the final piece of steel, which is 45 meters long and 450 tons in weight, was put in place, making the gallery a milestone in building the museum.
Since then, the museum's interior design and the installation of facilities have also been underway as scheduled. The museum is expected to be completed in 2019 and open to the public in 2020.
